Some restaurants feel like they are woven directly into the fabric of a neighborhood, and Biscottis in Jacksonville’s Avondale district is exactly that kind of place. When we arrived we were greeted warmly and seated immediately, and within minutes we understood why this restaurant has developed such a loyal following.

The atmosphere was lively without feeling crowded, and the restaurant had a wonderful energy that made the entire experience enjoyable from the start. We were visiting with close friends, which made the outing even more fun, but it quickly became clear that the real star of the afternoon was going to be the food.

Before we even ordered, we noticed the bakery display filled with towering cakes and decadent desserts. As dessert lovers, we immediately knew we would be leaving room for something sweet later.

But the meal itself quickly stole the spotlight.

Ambiance and Décor

Biscottis has a welcoming, comfortable charm that perfectly matches the Avondale neighborhood. The interior is lively and inviting, with a steady flow of guests enjoying everything from casual brunches to relaxed gatherings with friends.

There is an energy in the room that feels genuine and community driven. It is the type of place where conversations are lively and tables stay full because guests clearly enjoy spending time there.

For us, it felt like the ideal setting for a long brunch with friends.

Food Quality

This is where Biscottis truly shines.

Susan ordered the Quiche Lorraine, and after the first bite we looked at each other and immediately knew something special had happened. The texture was silky and rich, the crust perfectly balanced, and the flavors were deeply satisfying without being overwhelming.

It was so exceptional that we awarded the dish one of our rare Culinary Duo “Best of the Best” recognitions.

This award is not given lightly. It represents dishes that stand out even among the many restaurants we visit each year. The Quiche Lorraine at Biscottis earned that distinction with ease.

Meanwhile Peter ordered the Sweet Potato Pancakes, which were warm, flavorful, and comforting in the best possible way. They had a subtle sweetness that paired beautifully with the house made white cheddar hash browns, which delivered a perfect balance of crisp texture and cheesy richness.

Another notable element of Biscottis is its Snail of Approval designation from Slow Food First Coast, recognizing restaurants that support sustainable agriculture, local farmers, and responsible food practices. That commitment to quality ingredients was evident throughout the meal.

Simply put, the food was outstanding.

At Biscottis, the team was cheerful, engaged, and attentive throughout our visit. Service felt natural and welcoming rather than forced or scripted.
