Lavendou Bistro Provincial

Date of Visit: November 21, 2025

A Taste of France Hidden in North Dallas

Every time we visit Dallas, Lavendou Bistro Provincial becomes a priority on our dining list. It is one of my mother in law’s favorite restaurants, and for good reason. The location might surprise you at first. The bistro is tucked into a nondescript strip mall that shares space with some shops that would not lead you to expect a fine dining experience. But appearances can be deceiving. Once you walk through the door, you are instantly transported to another place entirely. Lavendou has an atmosphere that carries you far from the parking lot and straight into the charm and romance of southern France.

Ambiance and Décor

Warm light, rustic fabric patterns, Provençal colors, and thoughtful décor blend together to create one of the coziest dining rooms in Dallas. Pierre Deux fabrics and provincial touches make you feel as if you have stepped into a countryside home in France. Ambiance plays a huge role in the Lavendou experience and is one of the reasons it stands out among local restaurants.

Lavendou’s menu reads like a love letter to French cooking. From classics like escargots to delicate seafood, the dishes are designed with intention. The menu is approachable and authentic and provides both comfort and refinement. The wine list complements the dishes beautifully.

Food Quality

Our appetizers set the tone for the evening. Susan’s lobster bisque was rich and velvety and deeply satisfying. My French onion soup was flavorful, though I personally prefer a bit more baguette within the broth.

The escargots were outstanding and served in warm garlic butter. Paired with freshly baked bread, this dish reminded us of why French cuisine has such lasting charm.

For our entrées, Susan ordered the Sole De Deuvers with crabmeat, which she absolutely loved. I ordered the Gambas et Coqilles St. Jacques en Mille Feuilles. The presentation was elegant and impressive. The flavors were wonderful, although the scallops and shrimp were slightly overdone. Having visited many times, I know the quality here is consistently high, so I will absolutely give this dish another try on our next trip.

Dessert was the perfect finale. The Grand Marnier soufflé is the signature dish for a reason. Light, warm, luxurious, and beautifully prepared. It is something everyone should try at least once.
