250th Marine Corps Ball, Dallas, Texas
An Evening of Honor, Tradition, and Unforgettable Pride
There are events you attend, and then there are moments that stay with you for a lifetime.
This was one of those moments.
Susan and I had the extraordinary honor of being invited to the 250th Anniversary Marine Corps Ball in Dallas, Texas. From the moment we arrived, we knew this was not just another formal evening, this was something far more meaningful. A celebration of history, sacrifice, and an unwavering commitment to service.
The evening was a true black-tie affair. Many of you may recognize the photo that came from that night, the one featured on the cover of Stroll Magazine, where we are standing together in front of a beautifully lit Christmas tree. I was in a tuxedo, Susan in a stunning ball gown, and even in that moment, we knew we were part of something incredibly special.
What made the evening even more personal for us was Susan’s father. A career military man, he began his service in the Marine Corps, completing multiple tours in Vietnam, and later continued his distinguished career in the Army, ultimately retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel. His presence that night, surrounded by fellow service members, many of whom had equally remarkable stories, added a depth of pride and emotion that is difficult to put into words. It was an honor to stand beside him.
The scale of the event was remarkable. More than 500 Marines and their guests gathered in one room, each representing courage, discipline, and commitment. Yet despite the size, every detail was executed with precision and care.
And then there was the food.
We have attended countless large-scale events over the years, and more often than not, expectations around food at that level are modest at best. This was entirely different. Every course was prepared and served flawlessly. How a kitchen delivers that level of quality and consistency to a room of that size is something we genuinely admired. It was not just impressive, it was exceptional.
The service matched it in every way. Attentive, polished, and seamless, it reflected the same level of discipline and excellence that defines the Marine Corps itself.
Throughout the evening, there were moments that brought both joy and reflection. The ceremonial cake, beautifully presented, honored the legacy of the Corps.
Meeting the Marine Corps mascot bulldog and capturing a photo added a lighthearted and memorable touch. But what left the greatest impression on us were the conversations.
It reinforced something we have always believed, but felt even more deeply that night. The greatest part of any experience is the people.
This was not simply an event. It was a reminder of what service truly means, and of the individuals who dedicate their lives to protecting something greater than themselves.
Overall Experience
We left that evening with immense gratitude, a deeper respect for our military, and a memory we will carry with us forever.
God bless America. And God bless the
United States Marine Corps.
