Palm Valley Outdoors Bar & Grill
– A waterfront destination that delivers every time.
Some restaurants become destinations you look forward to returning to, and when you live nearby, they quickly become your go-to. Palm Valley Outdoors Bar and Grill firmly belongs in that category.
Susan and I have been visiting Palm Valley Outdoors since we moved to Florida, and it continues to impress us every time we walk through the door. Whether it is a casual afternoon stop, a lively evening with friends, or a date night dinner overlooking the water, this restaurant consistently delivers on both experience and execution.
Located directly on the Intracoastal Waterway, Palm Valley Outdoors enjoys one of the most enviable settings in Northeast Florida. Guests can arrive by car or pull up by boat, tie off at the dock, and step right into the restaurant. Boats glide past, the water reflects the changing sky, and the entire space feels relaxed and alive. It is the kind of place where you immediately slow down and settle in.
The layout is thoughtfully designed to accommodate a wide range of guests. Outdoor waterfront seating lines the dock and patio, while covered areas and indoor seating offer comfort regardless of group size or weather. If you enjoy sitting at the bar, there are options for bar stools and cozy tables. The restaurant regularly hosts live music, and the atmosphere is welcoming without feeling chaotic. That balance is not easy to achieve, but Palm Valley Outdoors manages it well.
What truly sets this restaurant apart is the depth and variety of its menu. Too often, waterfront restaurants rely on location alone and serve predictable food. Palm Valley Outdoors takes a very different approach. The menu is extensive and thoughtfully curated, offering far more than the standard seafood fare you might expect. There is something on the table for everyone at the table, and something they will enjoy.
Over time, we have explored much of the menu. On one visit, we started with wings and raw oysters while enjoying live music by the water. We shared a seafood platter that included fresh catch and shrimp prepared blackened, along with clam strips, oysters, steak fries, and hushpuppies. The hushpuppies deserve special mention. Crispy on the outside, fluffy inside, and full of flavor, they are exactly what you hope for at a true Florida waterfront restaurant.
On another visit, Susan ordered the Cajun seasoned shrimp over parmesan grits with peppers, onions, and andouille sausage, finished with a creamy andouille sauce. It remains one of her favorite dishes on the menu and one she still talks about. I ordered the bourbon-glazed Atlantic salmon, which was cooked perfectly and topped with a rich house-made bourbon sauce that enhanced the fish without overwhelming it. Even the jasmine rice and vegetables were well seasoned, which speaks to the kitchen’s attention to detail.
For this official Culinary Duo review, we asked the kitchen to surprise us with dishes we had not yet tried. The result was one of our most enjoyable visits to date.
We began with fried gator tail, which was a first for Susan and not something I would typically order. The dish turned out to be a pleasant surprise. The gator was tender, lightly breaded, and full of flavor, with just enough seasoning to highlight the meat. The house remoulade sauce complemented it perfectly, making the dish memorable.
Next came grilled oysters on the half shell, topped with house garlic butter. This is a must-order item. Even guests who think they are not oyster fans should give these a try. The garlic butter adds richness and depth, transforming the oysters into something truly special.
We also shared the lobster bisque, which was rich, comforting, and beautifully prepared. If you enjoy lobster bisque, adding a splash of sherry takes it to another level and is well worth doing.
For the main courses, Susan was served the lobster ravioli, a dish she loves and one that immediately earned The Culinary Duo Best of the Best award. Large pieces of lobster, cherry tomatoes, and an outstanding sauce came together in a way that felt indulgent without being heavy. This is one of those dishes you think about long after the meal is over, and it alone is worth the visit.
I had the blackened mahi dinner special, topped with mango salsa and served with seasoned rice prepared in chicken broth. The fish was fresh and expertly cooked, and the mango salsa added brightness without overpowering the dish. It was a perfect example of how Palm Valley balances bold flavors with restraint.
Be sure to save room for dessert, especially if you love sweets as much as we do. Palm Valley’s signature chocolate chip cookie ice cream sandwich is served warm in a cast-iron skillet, with vanilla ice cream melted between two oversized, freshly baked chocolate chip cookies and topped with whipped cream. This dessert earned The Culinary Duo Best of the Best award, and rightfully so. It is indulgent, nostalgic, and absolutely delicious.
Food quality at Palm Valley Outdoors is consistently excellent, but what also stands out is the level of organization and professionalism behind the scenes. During our visit, we were seated with a clear view of the kitchen on a busy Friday night. Watching the teamwork was impressive. The kitchen was clean, well-organized, and operating like a well-rehearsed orchestra. Plates moved quickly, and every dish that left the kitchen looked thoughtfully prepared.
Service was outstanding. On a very busy night, no fewer than six smiling and pleasant team members interacted with our table, delivering food, clearing plates, and making sure drinks were always filled. The coordination and teamwork were seamless, and it never felt intrusive.
Palm Valley is not inexpensive, but the value is undeniable. Portion sizes are generous, quality is high, and the overall experience is excellent.
Palm Valley Outdoors Bar and Grill is a place we recommend without hesitation. Whether you are arriving by boat, watching a game, enjoying live music, or planning a special dinner, this destination delivers every time.

“NORI is one of those places you drive past every day without realizing what a find it is. Susan and I had talked about visiting for a while, but road construction between Beachwalk and I-95 kept delaying the trip. Now that the road is almost finished, we can confidently say the drive is worth every minute. When we were invited to review NORI, we were excited to finally experience it.”
