In Our Kitchen with The Culinary Duo

Sometimes We Review the Food. Sometimes We Make It.

Welcome to In Our Kitchen, where Susan & Peter Martin trade the restaurant table for their own kitchen and invite you along for the adventure.

If you’ve followed The Culinary Duo, you already know how much we enjoy discovering great restaurants and talking about food. But our love of food doesn’t stop when we leave the restaurant.

We love to cook, too.

In Our Kitchen is where we share that side of our culinary lives. We’ll prepare some of our favorite recipes, experiment with new ideas, attempt dishes we’ve discovered online, share a few family favorites, and occasionally change a perfectly good recipe because we just can’t leave it alone.

Some experiments will be fantastic. Others? Well, you’ll get to see those too. That’s part of the fun.

More Than 100,000 Views and Counting

Peter has been sharing his passion for cooking for years, and one of his meatball cooking videos has generated more than 100,000 views on YouTube.

Apparently, there are a lot of people interested in making a great meatball.

That response helped reinforce something Susan & Peter already knew: people don’t just enjoy seeing the finished dish. They want to see how it’s made, hear the story behind it, and perhaps learn something they can try in their own kitchen.

That’s what In Our Kitchen is all about.

What Are We Cooking?

The answer could be almost anything.

One week we may be making one of Peter’s favorite Italian dishes. The next, Susan may find something completely different that we have never attempted before.

There will be family recipes, comfort food, appetizers, entrees, desserts, cooking experiments, and dishes inspired by some of the restaurants and chefs we’ve encountered during our Culinary Duo adventures.

But we’re adding a few twists of our own.

Tried It Online

We’ve all done it.

You’re scrolling through Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, or YouTube when suddenly a recipe stops you. It looks incredible. The creator makes it look ridiculously easy.

And you immediately think:

“We need to try that.”

So we will.

Tried It Online will feature recipes and food ideas we discover from creators around the internet. We’ll head into our kitchen, follow the recipe, taste the results, and answer the question everyone really wants answered:

Does it actually taste as good as it looked online?

When appropriate, we’ll also introduce you to the creator who inspired us and direct you back to the original recipe so you can try it yourself.

Some will become favorites. Some may need a little help.

Which brings us to…

The Duo Twist

Susan & Peter have never been particularly good at leaving recipes alone.

Maybe it needs a little more garlic. A different cheese. Some heat. A different sauce. A better way to finish it.

Or maybe we simply look at each other and say:

“You know what would make this even better?”

Welcome to The Duo Twist.

We’ll take recipes we’ve discovered, traditional favorites, and sometimes dishes we’ve already made, then add something of our own.

The objective isn’t necessarily to make the original recipe “better.” Food is personal. It’s about experimenting. What happens if we change this? What if we add that? Would we make it this way again?

We’ll show you what we changed, why we changed it, and most importantly, whether the Duo Twist actually worked.

And yes, if it doesn’t, we’ll tell you.

Calling All Food Creators

We also want to hear from the people creating the recipes we’re discovering.

If you’re a chef, recipe developer, food blogger, social media creator, home cook, or culinary personality with something you think The Culinary Duo should try, send it our way.

We love discovering talented people almost as much as we love discovering great food.

Selected contributors may be featured alongside their recipes, giving our audience an opportunity to discover your content and your story too.

This isn’t just Susan & Peter’s kitchen.

We want it to become a growing community of people who simply love food.

Cook Along With Us

You don’t have to be a professional chef to enjoy cooking.

We’re certainly going to learn a few things along the way ourselves.

That’s the spirit of In Our Kitchen.

Cook something. Try something. Change something. Taste it. Talk about it. Have fun.

  • Watch the videos.
  • Try the recipes at home.
  • Send us your results.
  • Tell us what you would change.
  • Recommend what we should make next.

And when you think one of our recipes desperately needs a Duo Twist of your own, we want to hear that too.
