Buena Onda in Santa Barbara is the kind of restaurant we love discovering. Tucked along East Haley Street, this relaxed Argentine empanada spot is easy to miss but absolutely worth finding. The twelve empanada sampler earned our rare Best of the Best Dish recognition. The carne was rich and savory, the sweet corn was creamy and subtly sweet, and the pulled pork, pollo, and prosciutto with mozzarella each brought something different to the table. The crispy potatoes with house-made sauce were another standout, and the cream, chocolate, and hazelnut pastries provided a satisfying finish. With its welcoming outdoor atmosphere, friendly service, and outstanding Santa Barbara value, Buena Onda also earned our Hidden Gem and Unexpected Find designations.
